Bensenville Park District to celebrate start of Waggin’ Tails Dog Park with Aug. 22 community kickoff

Posted

The Bensenville Park District will officially kick off construction of the new Waggin’ Tails Dog Park with a free community celebration from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 22, in the Veterans Park parking lot at Church Road and Main Street.

The event will mark the beginning of construction on the district’s newest recreational amenity while giving residents an opportunity to celebrate alongside fellow dog lovers. Visitors can enjoy free hot dogs, meet canine-related vendors, participate in giveaways and activities, and learn more about the future dog park before construction gets underway.

“The Waggin’ Tails Dog Park represents another investment in creating recreational opportunities that bring people together while enhancing quality of life in our community,” Executive Director Joe Vallez said. “This park will provide a safe, welcoming place for dogs to exercise and socialize while giving neighbors another reason to gather, connect and enjoy our parks. The kickoff celebration is a chance to celebrate the beginning of something that will serve Bensenville families and their four-legged companions for years to come.”

Festivities begin at 9 a.m. with the kickoff celebration, featuring free hot dogs, canine-related vendors, giveaways and family-friendly activities throughout the morning. At 10 a.m., park district officials and community leaders will participate in a ceremonial groundbreaking to commemorate the start of construction. The celebration concludes at 11 a.m. with a demonstration by the DuPage County Canine Department, showcasing the training, teamwork and abilities of its highly skilled working dogs.

The Waggin’ Tails Dog Park is designed to provide a dedicated space where dogs can run, play and socialize off leash while offering owners a place to gather and enjoy the outdoors. The Aug. 22 celebration gives the community an opportunity to be part of the project’s first milestone before construction begins.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, visit BvilleParks.org.
