On May 21, the Village of Bensenville’s Public Works Department welcomed families to the Public Works Facility at 17 E Jefferson St for a free open house event showcasing the skills, tools, and equipment required to maintain the village’s infrastructure. Kids and community members could see firsthand how the village is run from its incredible people, systems and facilities who keep it running.
Located at 717 E Jefferson St, the Public Works Facility is home to all the Public Works departments: Water, Streets, Forestry, Wastewater, Fleet, Building Services, Stormwater and Engineering. For the Open House event, informational booths were setup throughout the facility for demonstrations and activities including hydrant demos, snowplow ride-along, and more. Residents could connect directly with staff and gain a better understanding of the planning, coordination, and daily operations that the Public Works Department provides to village every single day.
“I want to congratulate our Public Works Department on another outstanding Public Works Open House here in Bensenville,” said Village President Frank DeSimone. “This event was a great reminder of how much pride our employees take in serving the community and how important it is to create opportunities for residents to engage with local government in a fun and meaningful way.”
