Young basketball players can dribble, pass, shoot and build confidence on the court this fall through two fun skill-building opportunities offered by the Bensenville Park District.
Basketball Skills: Levels 1-3 gives players ages 3-14 a fun and supportive environment to learn the fundamentals, improve coordination and teamwork, and develop their skills through age-appropriate drills and games. Whether players are picking up a basketball for the first time or looking to sharpen their existing abilities, each level is designed to help young athletes grow while making new friends and having fun.
Level 1 is for ages 3-5 and meets 5-6 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 14-Nov. 2, in the Deer Grove Leisure Center Racquetball Room/Gym. The fee is $45, or $35 for in-district patrons. Level 2, for ages 6-9, meets 6:15-7:15 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 14-Nov. 2, with the same fee. Level 3, for ages 10-14, meets 5-6 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 14-Nov. 2, also in the Racquetball Room/Gym. Each session has a minimum of four and maximum of eight participants.
For athletes looking for an extra dose of basketball action, Basketball Skills & Drills Camp provides a high-energy opportunity for ages 5-14 to sharpen their fundamentals through skill-building drills, games and team activities. Campers will work on dribbling, passing, shooting, teamwork and overall coordination while building confidence on the court.
Camp sessions for ages 5-9 meet 10-11 a.m. Saturdays, Sept. 5-Oct. 10, and Oct. 17-Nov. 21, in the Deer Grove Leisure Center Gym. The fee is $65, or $60 for in-district patrons. Players ages 10-14 meet 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Saturdays during the same session dates, with the same fee. Participants must register one week in advance of each session.
Participants in both programs should wear comfortable athletic clothing and gym shoes. With plenty of opportunities to practice, play and improve, young athletes can hit the hardwood this fall ready to take their game to the next level.
Registration is available in person at the Deer Grove Leisure Center, 1000 W. Wood St. in Bensenville, or online at BvilleParks.org
